PREFABRICATION: HIGH QUALITY. LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
  • Shortening the implementation time
  • Less resources needed at the construction site (human resources, storage space, less water and electricity consumption, less waste generated)
  • Greater safety at the construction site
  • Reducing the volume of concrete
  • Use of raw materials is closely related to a given project
  • Can be easily disassembled in the future
PHILOSOPHY

ASSUMPTIONS OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND THE TRACK FOR ZERO-WASTE

The production has a long-term function and is oriented towards waste minimization and the reuse of possible production waste. Thanks to the quick, well-developed assembly system of elements, no waste is generated on the construction site, and the entire investment is carefully planned.

Among others low-emission concretes are used for the production of building structures. 90% of reinforcing bars come from recycling, water used for industrial purposes is reused, collected and rainwater is also used.

All materials used for the production of buildings can be reused. Concrete can be reused as aggregate (e.g. for road construction), reinforcement bars – waste sent to a steel recycling point, which saves 40% of water, and reduces the emission of air pollutants by 86% and water by 76%.

In connection with the production and assembly of ready-made elements, we limit the environmental impact in the following aspects:

  • electricity – reducing energy consumption during construction, through assembly in a shorter time than in standard construction, and we conduct continuous energy efficiency tests of our factories,
  • water – reduction of water consumption during production as a result of implementing a closed-resource-cycle and reuse in subsequent processes,
  • heat losses – we reduce heat losses in the buildings we construct, through the use of modern thermal technologies.

Concrete has excellent thermal properties – low conductivity and high heat capacity – it heats up for a long time in summer and protects against heat, and at night it gives off heat to the environment. In winter, it reduces heat loss.

In the era of significant shortages in the construction market, system products fill the gap in an innovative and economical way: a set of well-matched, ready-made elements shorten the implementation time and minimize the risk of errors. The quality of production has been confirmed by Polish and international certificates.

OUR ECOLOGICAL PRODUCTS INCLUDE:
  • wind towers – for wind farms,
  • hall roofs with increased load capacity – for customers who install solar farms on large surfaces.

PEKABEX® SYSTEM – RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

Dedicated to high-quality and ecological housing construction, the Pekabex System – Residential Buildings was officially launched on the Polish market in May 2020 with the publication of Technical Catalogs – instructions for architects and contractors.

The creation of the “Pekabex System – Residential Buildings” is the result of several years of cooperation between constructors, architects, production specialists and concrete laboratories with experts from the Pekabex Research and Development Center. The work supported by the experiences carried out in Scandinavia allowed to combine modern construction technologies and functionality with ecological requirements.

Our clients expect to have higher and higher standards met – both set by developers and conscious end users of apartments. The result is innovative products, ready-made structural elements – incl. walls equipped with electrical installation, as well as a ready facade and installed windows and window sills.

High standards of the product – construction elements, have been confirmed by such certification bodies as: KIWA (EC-FPC Certificate AOC-Level 2+), TUV SUD (ISO 9001: 2008 certificate), NordCert or Kontrollradet. Finished apartments meet Polish standards – incl. both in terms of acoustics and thermal insulation. Pekabex structural elements also have the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification.

The Pekabex System – Residential Buildings is based on ready-made structural elements, which are assembled by professional teams of 5-6 people at the construction site (on average, one floor of the block within 4 working days).

Elements manufactured in factory conditions allow for continuous quality control, as well as all-year-round implementation at the construction site. Airtight walls ensure lower heating costs, while short construction time reduces the negative impact on the environment. The ready system means not only a completely new opening in the construction industry, but also paying attention to the ecological aspect, including work on reducing the carbon footprint in construction.

PEKABEX® HALLS SYSTEM

Design and production experience as well as many years of cooperation with construction companies and private investors contributed to the creation by our engineers of the first Polish Halls System.

Very high resistance of prefabricated reinforced concrete roofs to loads:

  • allows to install solar farms on large stretches
  • eliminates the need for snow removal – less work, the facility is cheaper and safer to use
  • reinforced concrete provides excellent fire protection: the prefabricated concrete structure of the roof is much more fireproof than steel structures
  • reinforced concrete heat capacity: does not require heating in winter and cooling in summer
  • reinforced concrete elements suppress noise.

Taking into account also the recycling of structures at the end of their life cycle – prefabricated halls constructions are 100% recyclable products. This process requires relatively little energy, especially compared to steel structures where a huge amount of energy is needed to melt.

What about the environmental costs of manufacturing the structure? When preparing our facilities for BREEAM or LEED certification, we calculate aspects such as transport of raw materials / geographical distribution. Steel imports, the consumption of which in prefabrication is low compared to steel halls, makes a huge difference to imports (only steel parts in the structure vs. the whole structure), as most of the steel in Europe comes from China. This carbon footprint counts very much from the cradle!

PEKABEX® SYSTEM – OFFICE FACILITIES

Traditional (monolithic) construction or the use of prefabricated elements? We have calculated the carbon footprint of a given office building, if modular ceilings are built of prefabricated elements – we present the calculations to our clients during the meetings.

CASE: “JA_SIELSKA” HOUSING PROJECT IN POZNAŃ

The JA_SIELSKA estate is a housing offer for people who want to live more consciously in the surrounding space, in accordance with the motto “Live consciously”.

JA_SIELSKA is built entirely of modern modular prefabricated concrete elements. This is the first such solution in Poland, and at the same time an example of the “Pekabex System – Residential Buildings”. The investment consists of six five-storey residential buildings with a spacious underground garage hall, it was built in two stages, has 168 apartments. You find there high quality of the elements produced in the plant – impossible to achieve using traditional technology, the walls are much more durable and provide better thermal and acoustic insulation. Three-layer façade and corridor walls allow to reduce the costs of maintaining and operating buildings. The use of prefabrication can shorten the implementation time by up to 50%: the second stage of the JA_SIELSKA estate was built in just 10 months thanks to our highly specialized assembly teams.

In the case of Pekabex development projects, care for sustainable development is a priority at every stage of the investment. Starting from the programming and concept phase, various pro-ecological and social integration solutions are analyzed. JA_SIELSKA, like any other Pekabex development project, is friendly to cyclists – it provides not only safe parking spaces, but also infrastructure for inspections and repairs. The relaxation and play zones are not only a playground for children, but also spaces for the development of creativity and environmental education, including learning about nature by the youngest residents. Separate zones for loud games, social integration and quiet relaxation make every resident find something suitable. All play and recreation spaces are car-free. Pekabex has made every effort to ensure that the JA_SIELSKA estate performs an educational function. The most important features:

  • Energy-efficient lighting in common areas
  • Appropriate layout of the rooms; division of flats into day and night zones, high energy-saving windows, providing a home office space
  • Caring for waste segregation on the estate,
  • Eco-mobility – stands and rooms for bicycles, bicycle stations, electric car chargers, limited vehicle traffic (garage hall)
  • Biophilia – appropriate land development, placemaking

An ecological “User Manual” has been prepared for the residents in order to suggest how to maximize the potential of apartments, while actively participating in environmental protection.

CASE: „OSIEDLOWA 43” HOUSING PROJECT IN JÓZEFOSŁAW (NEAR WARSAW)

We care about the health of the inhabitants (healthy ground, mechanical ventilation with recuperation and filters, Soffio wall heating, passive protection against heating) and maintenance for little money (thick insulation , Master Switch, photovoltaics, etc.). Our developer houses are investments that can be easily controlled from anywhere in the world.

A guarantee of up to 50% lower heating costs and energy savings thanks to thicker than standard layers of insulation, warmer windows, garage doors and gates (they meet the strict technical conditions that have only just come into force) and a compact body of the building.

The use of massive precast concrete guarantees high heat accumulation. The excellent energy efficiency is also influenced by: heat recovery through recuperation, the use of underfloor heating, a wall heating system that requires only a dozen liters of water in the heating circuit, ready infrastructure for the installation of photovoltaic panels, Master Switch of the electrical installation, turning off unnecessary receivers throughout the house with a single button and three-layer wall with a concrete facade. Advanced mechanical ventilation ensures perfect air flow in all rooms all year round without opening the windows. It should be remembered that the most heat loss is usually caused by ventilation. In our buildings, when the residents leave – the ventilation is off. Thanks to recuperation, the cold air is heated by the warm air removed from the building. The houses from the investment in Józefosław also have an integrated passive protection against overheating of the building in the summer.

CERTIFICATES, AWARDS, DOCUMENTS, PARTICIPATION IN ORGANIZATIONS

In 2020, Pekabex was the finalist of the “Product in circulation” competition of the Ministry of Climate. This competition appreciated the Pekabex System – Residential Buildings, which fits in with the idea of ”promoting and disseminating achievements in the field of ecological, sustainable design and the use of innovative solutions in the field of product reintegration for circulation”.
